Feline Future FAQs
Do I have to or can I use meat with bone with InstinctsTC?No, please do not use meat with bone (like whole ground chicken, thighs with bone, backs, and or wings; or whole ground rabbit) when preparing InstinctsTC. InstinctsTC already contains all the essential minerals, which would otherwise be supplied to the cat from her prey's bones. InstinctsTC contains "Felamin" a bone substitute made from all natural source minerals and amino acids. Feeding InstinctsTC AND meat with bone will cause constipation and unbalance your cat's body pH. Feline Future is also no avid advocate of feeding ground meat with bone. Bones can cause constipation, because they are mostly made up of low quality proteins, and bone fragments can irritate the intestinal tract if your cat is unable to dissolve the bone in her stomach. Also, bones from chickens and rabbits are no equivalent to bones from mice and songbirds.Does InstinctsTC contain Taurine and how much?Yes, InstinctsTC is supplemented with Taurine. It provides your cat with a minimum of 200mg Taurine per ½ cup portion (daily serving). Is the food prepared using InstinctsTC all my cat needs?Yes. When InstinctsTC is prepared according to the instructions, it provides your cat with all the nutrients needed for all stages of live; from kittenhood to old age and everything in between. It is "complete and balanced", as well as time-tested by the Feline Future cats, which have not eaten anything else for the past 10 years. If I want to use liver powder, how much do I use?You can substitute ½ cup of fresh liver with 1 Tablespoon of liver powder. Can I use liver powder with any meat?Yes. We found the beef liver powder compatible with ANY meat, including chicken and turkey, and recommend its use with these meats. However, when using fresh liver in your batch, we suggest you use liver from poultry if making cat food with poultry meat, liver from beef with beef meet, liver from lamb with lamb meat, etc.HELP! I used a whole ½ cup of liver powder with one batch of InstinctsTC.If you have done this - you are not the first one. Until you get into the routine of cat-food-making, it can be confusing. To prevent an overdose on vitamin A - which is harmful - choose one of the following options:
Is InstinctsTC good for cats with bladder problems like urinary crystals?Yes. InstinctsTC's unique formulation - containing no alkaline forming foods of plant origin - promotes a healthy, slightly acid body pH. At the same time, InstinctsTC is a rich source of Calcium, enabling your cat to naturally buffer the highly acid forming foods in her diet - like meat and eggs. This prevents your cat from becoming too acidic as well. Acidosis is equally disease-causing as Alkalosis - and is frequently the side-effect of prescription diets containing Ammonium Chloride. InstinctsTC - when prepared - is also a food with a high moisture content. This keeps your cat well hydrated and encourages urination, which promotes bladder health. During the past 12 years, NONE of the Feline Future cats has shown any signs of bladder problems. If your cat is taking Steroid medication to suppress inflammation, close collaboration with your Veterinarian is essential if you wish to discontinue this medication. Is InstinctsTC good for cats with Irritable Bowel Disease?Yes. Although Feline Future has no in-house experience in treating cats with Irritable or Inflammatory Bowel Disease, customer report very positive results when feeding their cats InstinctsTC for this condition. Often, the symptoms disappear altogether. If your cat is taking Steroid medication to suppress inflammation, close collaboration with your Veterinarian is essential if you wish to discontinue this medication. Is InstinctsTC good for cats with Diabetes?Yes. Again -although Feline Future has no in-house experience in treating cats with Diabetes, customer report very positive results when feeding their cats InstinctsTC for this condition. Often, administration of Insulin can be reduced or discontinued altogether. However, this requires close collaboration with your Veterinarian. Will InstinctsTC keep my cat's teeth clean? It is a misconception that ANY food can clean teeth. Food affects body pH and the rate at which tartar builds up. Food composition and a high sugar or starch content will affect bacterial growth in the mouth and the build-up of plaque - which will lead to tartar formation. InstinctsTC will not cause dental disease. However, build-up of tartar, over time, is a natural occurrence and is observed in wild cats as well. Only mechanical removal of plaque and tartar by brushing or professional scaling can prevent the occurrence of plaque and tartar build-up. Our observations have concluded that cats raised on InstinctsTC will benefit from a dental scaling between the ages of 6-8 years as a preventive measure. Can I feed InstinctsTC to my cat in Chronic Renal Failure? It depends on the degree of renal insufficiency your cat is afflicted by, or if your cat is truly in renal failure. Renal failure describes the condition when 75% or more of normal kidney function is lost and your cat is no longer able to function normally without extensive therapeutic support like daily subcutaneous fluids and drug therapy. Renal insufficiency, however, describes the condition where some kidney tissue has been affected and can be detected by blood and urine testes, but the cat can function normally without extensive support. For the later, your Veterinarian may prescribe medication and a low protein diet as a means to prevent further loss of kidney tissue.Due to the high content of protein, InstinctsTC is not suitable for cats in renal failure. Also, most cats in renal failure suffer a loss of appetite, and the caregiver often has no option but to cater to the cat's taste preference. Dietary therapy is too late with these patients, and the goal is to make them as comfortable as possible. Depending on which popular views you are drawn to, InstinctsTC is suitable for cats with renal insufficiency. Feeding a high protein diet to a cat with renal insufficiency DOES NOT contribute to further loss of kidney tissue. Rather, if the underlying cause of the kidney inflammation is not remedies, further loss can not be prevented - regardless of diet. Causes of chronic kidney inflammation, leading to the loss of proper kidney function - are diverse. A staple diet of dry cat food - causing a chronic state of dehydration and imbalanced biochemistry - can be considered the main cause. Repeated exposure to residual chemicals, as in commercial foods and in common drug treatments, doesn't help. Poor dental health does not only affect your cat's kidneys, but also the heart. InstinctsTC is a pure source of optimal nutrition, which also provides your cat with plenty of fluids, and the building blocks to re-balance and re-built. This is not because InstinctsTC is some sort of miracle food, but because InstinctsTC was formulated with a passion for cats and their health. |
